P-206 PFPE Lubricating Oil Extreme High Temperature Oil for High-temperature Environments

Detailed Information

- Type: PFPE lubricating oil, high temperature oil, P-206 PFPE oil, industrial extreme temperature grease, oil for high-temperature environments.
- P-206 (Extreme High-Temperature) lubricating oil is formulated using base oils, thickeners, and chemical additives to achieve a wide viscosity range, making it suitable for operation under significantly high temperatures.
- Unlike most petroleum-based products that degrade below 99°C (210°F) and become excessively viscous just under -18°C (0°F), P-206 exhibits a broader operating temperature range of -70°C to 360°C (-94°F to 680°F). When applied under appropriate metallurgical conditions and with regular relubrication, P-206 can function effectively at temperatures up to 400°C (752°F).

Physical Properties

- Operating Temperature Range: –15°C to 350°C (5°F to 662°F)
- Base Oil Viscosity:
    - At 20°C (68°F): 2610 cSt
    - At 40°C (104°F): 738 cSt
    - At 100°C (212°F): 64.6 cSt
- Viscosity Index: 157
- Pour Point: -15°C (5°F)
- Density:
    - At 0°C (32°F): 1.95 g/mL
    - At 100°C (212°F): 1.78 g/mL
- Volatility (22 hours):
    - At 204°C (400°F): -
    - At 260°C (500°F): 0.6%
- Vapor Pressure (Knudsen Method):
    - At 20°C (68°F): ≤3 x 10⁻¹⁴
    - At 100°C (212°F): ≤1 x 10⁻⁹
    - At 200°C (392°F): ≤2 x 10⁻⁶

Characteristics

- Non-Flammable: P-206 consists solely of carbon, oxygen, and fluorine. The absence of hydrogen ensures that they neither burn nor support combustion, even in environments with 100% liquid or gaseous oxygen.
- Chemical Inertness: P-206 is highly resistant to oxidation and exhibits minimal reactivity with most chemicals. They are insoluble in the majority of solvents, except for certain high-fluorine-content liquids and some supercritical fluids, such as carbon dioxide.
- Thermal and Oxidation Stability: Differential thermal analysis reveals that the lubricant begins to degrade at approximately 470°C (878°F) in the absence of air. When tested in a nitrogen atmosphere at 371°C (700°F) for six hours, P-206 showed no increase in acid number or significant viscosity changes. The presence of air does not substantially lower the decomposition threshold of P-206.

Application Areas

P-206 is a reliable solution across various industries, offering multiple grades with anti-corrosion properties, enhanced adhesion, and non-melting characteristics. These features make them suitable for demanding industrial environments, including:
    - Aerospace
